How to transport the 7823.
Solution
Problems may result if the model 7823 is not properly repacked after being set up. To ensure that the copier is installed successfully, the repacking procedure
must be followed when it is necessary to transport the machine after setup. The following precautions should be observed when transporting the 7823. To
transport the 7823, perform the following:
1. Keep all packing materials for reuse, especially the scanner locking pin and cushion holding plate under the transfer drum.
2. To prevent fusing unit oil leakage, the fusing unit unit must be empty, or removed and transported separately. When setting up the machine in the shop,
add only the amount of oil needed to run enough copies to ensure copy quality and proper machine operation. This can be accomplished by priming the fusing
unit. Fill the syringe with 10ml of silicon oil 3 times and inject it into the fusing unit's oil tank. The 30ml can make up to 20, 8.5x11 copies. Using this as a
guide, add the appropriate Amount of oil to the fusing unit. If the fusing unit oil tank is full, and transportation is required, use the syringe to remove the oil and
place it in an empty oil bottle.
3. The toner hopper must be empty, or removed and transported separately before the copier is shipped to prevent the toner from packing and binding the
drive train. If the copier was shipped with toner, the toner must be stirred before operating the machine to ensure that drive gears or boards will not be
damaged because of packed toner.
4. Certain adjustments will also need to be confirmed or reset (i.e., transfer drum retraction, fusing unit NIP adjustment, gradation).
5. Follow the installation site requirements included with the machine.
6. Remove the LCT unit before transporting the copier.
7. The developer unit must be removed and transported separately before the copier is shipped in order to prevent packing of the developer. If acceptable
print quality cannot be attained after transportation, all four developers will need to be changed.
8. Perform the Repacking Procedure outlined in 7823 Technical Bulletin #1 .
